PEABODY — Three times this season, Bishop Fenwick has played football in front of its home fans at Donaldson Stadium. Three times this season, those fans have gone home happy.
The Crusaders (3-0) took care of business against Wilmington (0-4) Friday night in a 42-6 final. A 21-point second quarter did the trick, putting things out of reach for the visitors.
Brayden Clifford got things started with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Lincoln Dugan in the first quarter – one that ended, 7-0, in favor of the hosts.
The second quarter, however, came with two big plays. Fenwick rattled off 35- and 39-yard touchdowns, respectively, from Dylan Patturelli on a rush and another connection between Clifford and Dugan.
Craig Masone added a 2-yard push to make it 28-0 by halftime. Aidan Silva converted all four of his extra-point attempts after two quarters.
Clifford found Nate Allder for a 17-yard score in the third, while Odin Garron returned an interception to make it 42-0. A late touchdown from Wilmington’s Gus Lambert broke Fenwick’s shutout bid.
The Crusaders visit Archbishop Williams Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
