SALEM — Six people have been indicted by an Essex County grand jury in connection with the deadly drive-by shooting that killed Jandriel Heredia, 21, of Revere; and Abraham Diaz, 25, of Lynn, and injured five others at 189 Essex St. in Lynn last September.
Justin Alba, 25, of Peabody; and Lynn residents Darwin Batista, 20; Yefferson Vallecillo Cambar, 22; Carlos Ramirez Corniel, 16; Leonardo Espinoza, 15; and Abel Severino Reyes, 21, have each been charged with two counts of murder.
The six individuals have also each been charged with one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Corniel and Espinoza were both indicted as youthful offenders.
Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker said the indictments are a result of the partnerships his office has with the Lynn Police Department.
“The determination of Assistant District Attorney Jessica Strasnick and the prosecution team demonstrates our commitment to addressing gun violence in Essex County,” Tucker said.
“The indictment of these six individuals represents a significant step in seeking justice for the victims in this case that deeply impacted our community,” Lynn Police Chief Chris Reddy said. “I want to thank the many members of the Lynn Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police, and the Essex County District Attorney’s Office for their tireless efforts during this extensive investigation.”
The six individuals will be arraigned in Superior Court at a date that has yet to be determined.
