The Peabody West 11-year-old All-Star team may have come up short in the Section 4 tournament, but they went out in style, defeating Danvers National, 4-2, Sunday at Pollard Field in Billerica in their third and final pool play game.
West finished the tournament 1-2, one win short of advancing to the championship game.
Sunday’s star was pitcher Owen Skerry. In six innings, he threw only 47 pitches and allowed two runs on four hits. Skerry helped his own cause at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run scored.
“The story of the game was Owen Skerry – no doubt about it,” said manager Phil Ragusa. “They (Falcons) hit the ball and we made all the plays behind him. Also, Leo Pietrosanto at short and Bryce Ragusa at third base were solid on the left side.”
West had only six hits, but made the most of them. Nick Dattoli (1-for-2, R), Cam Segee (1-for-2, double, R), Parker Santos (1-for-3), Logan LaTorella (1-for-2), and Logan Dresser (1-for-2) had one hit each, while Pietrosanto chipped in a walk and one run scored.

On Saturday, West fell to 0-2 in pool play with a loss to the Hornets. West jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but North Reading turned tables with two in the first and another four in the second to take a 6-3 lead.
West bounced back with three runs in the third to knot things up, 6-6, but North Reading sealed the deal with solo runs in the third and fifth innings.
Dattoli (2-for-2, BB, R) and Segee (2-for-2, OBE, 2 R) led the offense with two hits apiece.
West had some late chances. Dattoli ripped a two-out single in the top of the fifth, but was stranded; Santos led off the sixth with a double, but was caught stealing. Ragusa (1-for-2, BB, 2 F), Santos (1-for-3, R) and LaTorella (1-for-3) all went home with hits.
