ATTLEBORO — The Bishop Fenwick girls track team earned school bragging rights at Sunday’s Catholic Central League Outdoor Track & Field Championship at McGrath Stadium. The girls tallied 113 points and finished third, while the boys team finished sixth with 39 points. Host Bishop Feehan won both team titles.
Marianna Kay and McKenna Leaman were the Crusaders’ top performers. Kay won the 2-mile in 11:54.97, while Leaman won the discus with a 98-07 toss with Samantha Dormer finishing fifth with a PR 81-09 and Kyleigh Pidgeon right behind in sixth with a PR 78-01. Leaman also finished second in the shot with a season-best throw of 30-08.75. Julie Davis led a strong effort in the 800 with a runner-up finish in 2:23.91. Tess Keenan placed fifth with a PR 2:38.38 and Kaleigh Cooke finished seventh with a season-best 2:41.68.
The Crusaders also had a strong showing in the javelin with Dormer taking second (88-09) and Pidgeon (PR 82-00) finishing fourth and Helene Phelan finishing sixth (75-06).
Gabby Millett finished fifth in the long jump with a PR 14-08.25. She also finished fourth in the 100 with a PR 13.35. In the triple jump, Irene Caron finished sixth (28-06.75) and Amerkia Latorelli finished eighth (PR 26-06.50).
Other top-10 finishers included Adelaide Sweatman, fourth in the 2-mile (13:03.23); Brittney Figulski, fifth in the 100 hurdles (19.16); Caroline Perry, sixth in the 400 hurdles (PR 1:20.27); Olivia Rowe, seventh in the mile (PR 6:16.48); Madison Mosley, ninth in the 400 hurdles (1:27.71); Amanda Moric, 10th in the 400 (1:10.12) and Mary Fallon, 10th in the mile (PR 6:42.48).
The Crusaders also did well in relays. Sweatman, Fallon, Cooke and Rowe finished second in the 4×800 (2:49.42), Linnea Rice, Keenan, Kay and Davis finished third in the 4×400, and Millett, Moric, Caron and Maeve O’Donnell finished fourth in the 4×100 (56.58).
Declan Corcoran was the top Crusader in the boys’ meet with a third-place finish in the triple jump (36-06) and a fifth-place finish in the long jump (PR 18-06). Gianluca Sestito placed in two events. He was fourth in the discus with a PR 114-06) and sixth in the shot put (37-00.25). Jesse Timson (PR 24.56) and Cody Grundy (PR 25.5) finished fourth and ninth, respectively in the 200, while Aidan Silva (1:07.5) and Daniel Rowan (SR 1:10.32) finished fifth and ninth, respectively, in the 400 hurdles. Silva also placed sixth in the 110 hurdles with Jonathan Romans close behind in 10th (PR 21.33).
Other top-10 finishers included Michael Carter, sixth in the 400 (55.10); Sam Appleyard, seventh in the 2-mile (11:22.85); Nondas Lagonakis, eighth in the 800 (2:24.99) and 10th in the long jump (17-02), and Teddy Cahill, ninth in the javelin (100-03).
Carter, Corcoran, Michael Gulla and Lagonakis finished sixth in the 4×100 relay in 47.84.
