A helpful message hanging on the wall of Higgins Middle School's new Student Resource and Support Center. (Spenser Hasak)

PROMISE draws inspiration from students

December 22, 2025 by For The Weekly News

The new Higgins Student Resource & Support Center needs a logo, so Peabody PROMISE has launched a contest open to all Higgins students to design it for a chance to win a $100 Amazon gift card, courtesy of The Henry R. Breckenridge Charitable Foundation.

Posters have been hung around the school that include these design tips:

  • Style/Theme: Show that the SRSC is a welcoming space for everyone!
  • Creativity: Think about connection and support. JUDGMENT-FREE ZONE.
  • Colors: Think vibrant, uplifting. No dark or muted tones.
  • Readability: Clear and simple. Easy to read and recognize, even from a distance

The winning design — which will be selected by a committee including a school administrator, SRSC staff, and student representation — will be used for the door sign, flyers, and more.

Students can enter one of two ways:

  • Submit a digital design to the Logo Contest Google Classroom. Use class code: cvr3m6x5.
  • Drop off a hand-drawn or paper design in the art mailbox in the office or give it directly to Mr. Lamkin.

The deadline for submissions is Jan. 7, 2026.
