Stolen vehicle chase ends in crash, suspect arrested in Peabody

October 28, 2025 by For The Weekly News

The Peabody Police Department received a Flock Camera alert on Oct. 24 that a stolen motor vehicle was traveling on Lynn Street toward Washington Street. An officer observed the vehicle and attempted to initiate a stop; however, the driver turned around and fled.

The officer began following the vehicle but quickly ended the pursuit due to its excessive speed. Shortly afterward, the stolen vehicle collided with two other vehicles, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. The vehicle then continued for a short distance before the driver lost control, left the roadway, and came to a stop in a residential yard, narrowly avoiding a garage. The incident also caused damage to the property.

With assistance from neighbors, whose home security videos proved instrumental, officers identified the suspect. Timothy Crane, 32, of Berry St. in Danvers, was arrested and charged with the following offenses: receiving stolen property, failure to stop for police, operating to endanger, and leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury.

The Peabody Police Department extends sincere thanks to the Amesbury Police Department, Beverly Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, Lynn Police Department, and the neighbors whose cooperation and assistance were vital in resolving this incident.
