Roundup: Bouncing back on the course

September 2, 2025 by Joey Barrett

You could say Monday’s (Aug. 25) 60.5-11.5 loss against Danvers feels like ancient history for Peabody’s varsity golf squad.

That’s because the Tanners bounced back with a 42-30 win against the Salem Witches at Olde Salem Greens Golf Course last Thursday.

Playing a more relaxed game, according to coach Peter Cronan, Peabody took care of business behind strong performances from Tristan Joyce, Anthony Mugdano, Ryan Lockhart, Chris Brown, George Grace, and McKenzie Campbell.

The Prep (1-0) started hot with a win at Mount Hood Golf Course. Third-year varsity golfer Seamus O’Holleran and Cullen Pasterick – making his varsity debut – led the Eagles with 37s. Jack Carew (38), Zach Enners (39), Jack Moriarty (40), Cole Cullen (40), and Logan Daigle (40) also shot well.

It was a tough start for the Tanners, but not without positives, according to coach Jillian Tobin.

“Today was a hard loss to start the season, but we saw things starting to string together and the chemistry was definitely there,” she said.

Sophia Kassis came up big with 21 saves, while Elizabeth Moore tallied a pair of defensive saves. Karley O’Connor and Chris Troncoso held the midfield together with “command and confidence,” as said by Tobin.
