Peabody’s varsity baseball team took part in last weekend’s James Geanoulis and Gary Linehan Memorial Tournament. The Tanners took care of business in Round 1, but fell short in Sunday’s championship game. Peabody took down Danvers in extra innings, 3-2, Saturday and captured the Northeastern Conference Dunn Division, to boot. Ethan Waybret hit a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning to seal it. But a day later, in the title game, Peabody met its match against Wakefield in a 10-0 final. Coach Mark Bettencourt’s Tanners stand at 14-6 and await Wednesday morning’s MIAA bracket releases.
