Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt Jr. announced that the City of Peabody has been named a 2024 Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation for its commitment to urban forestry.
This marks the 23rd year Peabody has earned the national honor from the Arbor Day Foundation, the nation’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to planting trees.
“Trees play a vital role in our community, offering beauty, shade, and a boost to our local environment,” Bettencourt said. “This recognition shows our dedication to keeping Peabody healthy and thriving.”
The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.
The Arbor Day Foundation is a nonprofit environmental and educational organization with more than 1 million members. Its mission is to inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees.
