Danvers — Essex Tech is thrilled to announce a landmark achievement for the school and its Arboriculture program: the campus has officially earned Level 1 Accredited Arboretum status.
This honor, resulting from years of hard work and dedication by our talented Arboriculture students, marks a significant milestone for the school and the surrounding community.
“Essex North Shore has been finding ways to increase exposure to authentic learning experiences that can propel our students into careers. This Arboretum is a testament to the dedication and commitment to agriculture and teaching our students the importance of creating spaces in nature to explore and learn,” Dr. Heidi Riccio stated.
To commemorate this remarkable achievement, we invite you to join us for a special celebration filled with exciting activities that highlight the efforts of our students, the importance of environmental stewardship, and our commitment to nurturing future generations of environmental leaders. The event will include:
- A student-led presentation showcasing their work in earning the accreditation
- The creation of a community time capsule to be buried on campus as a symbol of our shared history
- A guided tour of the newly accredited arboretum led by our students
- A ceremonial tree planting to mark this historic occasion
- The official ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the achievement
