Henry Breckenridge Foundation to host third annual comedy show

January 27, 2026 by Amanda Lurey

The Henry R. Breckenridge Charitable Foundation is hosting its third annual comedy show at Holy Ghost Society, located at 20 Howley St., on Saturday, Jan. 31.

The show is hosted by local comic Johnny Pizzi and features Lenny Clarke, John Perrotta, Paul Gilligan, Billy Pezzullo, and Mark Reilly.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for the show, which will run from 7:30-11 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go toward scholarships for graduating seniors at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School and Bishop Fenwick High School.

“The reason we picked those two schools was (because) before Henry became a police officer, he worked security at Peabody High, and he graduated from Bishop Fenwick,” said Dave Bettencourt of the Peabody Police.

Bettencourt said this comedy show is one of the Foundation’s two main fundraisers, the other being its annual golf tournament, which will be in June.

He also noted that the sound system at Holy Ghost has been upgraded.

“We’ve had some issues with the sound, but we have a professional handling the sound system this year,” he said.

Tickets are $60 and include dinner from Petrillo’s. Bettencourt said there are still 80 tickets up for grabs for anyone interested in attending. There will also be raffles and a silent auction. Bettencourt noted that Barry Calvani donated all the memorabilia for the silent auction.

He said attendees can look forward to “great food from Petrillo’s, drinks, lots of laughs, and fun with family and friends, just to get away from everything else that’s going on in the world.”
