You know what I’ve been thinking? With three tough tests, Bishop Fenwick’s girls basketball team, 7-0, proved some people wrong last week.
The Crusaders, helmed by coach Adam DeBaggis, defeated Tewksbury Memorial (45-34 final), St. Mary’s (55-46), and Archbishop Williams (56-43) across a seven-day span.
Better yet, two of three wins came in enemy territory.
Fenwick has been led by the dynamic duo of Celia Neilson and Caitlin Boyle — two complete players who flirt with double-doubles on the daily. (Talk about leading by example as team captains.)
With the Spartans in town for a clash of traditional archrivals, Neilson recorded 22 points, seven assists, and four steals, while Boyle went home with 18 points, four rebounds, and four blocks.
It’s a versatile group, however, with Reese Spurchise, Brittney Figulski, Taisha Castillo, Abby Jenkins, Kyleigh Pidgeon, and Jane Koulopoulos among other contributors.
Through seven games, Fenwick has outscored opponents 360-248 for an average of 51-35. The group ranked No. 1 in the MIAA’s Div. 3 power rankings released Friday.
Crusaders, good week.
