Creativity Lab – Open Lab

9:30-10:30 a.m. and noon-12:30 p.m.

Creativity Lab, Main Library

Have a personal project you’re working on, or one you want to start? Stop by the Lower Level any time during this session to use any of the tools available at the Creativity Lab! We have tools for 3D printing, sewing, sound recording, laser cutting, woodworking, computer programming, vinyl cutting, jewelry making, graphic design, electronics, and more. A librarian will be available to help you learn any unfamiliar tools!

Although Open Labs are one on one, groups are allowed to attend under one registration.

Baby Group 

11 a.m.-noon

Tech Lab, Main Library

Caregivers of babies are welcome to drop in and join us in the Tech Lab every other Saturday from 11AM – 12PM with their little ones for a Baby Group! Practice tummy time, play with toys, explore textures and colors, and meet other caregivers.

Registration is not required, but preferred.

Library Clothing Drive – PICK UP!

Noon-3 p.m.

Teen Room, Main Library

Throughout the month of December, the Peabody Institute Library has been collecting clothing donations! All ages are welcome to stop by the Teen Room on Saturday, December 27th to ‘shop’ for new (to you) clothes – pick up whatever you like!

This event is run by our Teen volunteer group, TACO. Any clothing that is not pickup up on Sat., Dec. 27th will be donated to St. John’s the Baptist Church

Please note: This is NOT A DONATION EVENT. This is for PICK UP ONLY. To see dates and times for donation, please check out our calendar!

Adult Yoga with Kirsty Yetter

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Tech Lab, Main Library

Adult beginner-friendly yoga for all levels is back at the Peabody Library! Join instructor Kirsty for a low-key drop-in yoga class once a week that is appropriate for all levels, whether you’re a seasoned yoga practitioner or never done yoga before. Kirsty will lead you through exercises that will help you connect your mind with your body and feel refreshed for the rest of the day.

Please register for each class so we have a head count. Yoga mats and bolsters are provided, but feel free to bring your own.

Adult Yoga with Jacqui Orphanos

2-3 p.m.

Community Room, West Branch

Join yoga instructor Jacqui Orphanos for a relaxing all-levels yoga class. This gentle flow class will focus on breathwork, gentle stretching, functional movement and balance. Participants will be encouraged to move at their own pace & modifications will be offered. Class will close with a relaxing savasana with sound bowls, Reiki assists & optional essential oils. Beginners are welcome!

Mats and Yoga Straps will be provided. Participants should wear comfortable, easy to move in clothing & bring a water bottle.

This program is free and open to the public. For ages 18+. Please visit us online or at the Public Service Desk or call the West Branch Library at 978-535-3354 for more info.

Teen Gingerbread House Contest

2-4 p.m.

Teen Room, Main Library

Teens Grades 6-12! Test your Gingerbread House making skills to make the BEST one you can! When finished, we’ll vote on who’s is the best. Registration is required.

Kids: Sesame Street: Raising Kids in a Digital World

3-3:45 p.m.

Tech Lab, Main Library

Brought to you by Sesame Workshop and Google, this workshop helps young children and caregivers explore healthy digital habits through storytime, creativity, and movement. Families will:

  • Learn about digital well-being, with help from their favorite Sesame Street friends
  • Practice strategies to connect both on and off screens
  • Create a colorful collage of their favorite ways to spend time together, and use it to spark meaningful moments throughout the day.

Printed materials will be available in both English and en español. For children ages 3-5 and their caregivers. Registration is required.

Tuesday, Dec. 30

Children’s Yoga

10-11 a.m.

Tech Lab, Main Library

Ready for some morning movement and relaxation? Miss Katia hosts a fun yoga session for children every Tuesday morning. Wear comfy clothes, bring a yoga mat if you have one, and a water bottle to stay hydrated. Like all of our Library programs, this event is free and open to the public. Non-Peabody residents are welcome.

Kids Art Club

3:30-4:30 p.m.

Community Room, South Branch

Kids ages 8 to 12 are welcome to join Art Club at the South Branch Library! This program will meet on the last Tuesday of every month from 3:30 to 4:30. Each month, we will work on a new art project, focusing on encouraging creativity. Projects will vary between drawing lessons, drawing games, learning techniques of famous artists, origami, and more!

Registration is required for each month and all materials will be provided.

TACO – Main Library

4-5 p.m.

Teen Room, Main Library

Each Tuesday, teens can come to the teen room at the Main Library and help better the Peabody Institute Library. Teen volunteers will will be given tasks that help the library and / or your community in some way. As compensation, teens receive one hour of community service hours, and a free food the first Tuesday of the month.

Please fill out a Teen Volunteer Application at the start of this program if this is your first time participating. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. If you have questions, please email Senior Teen Librarian Amory at AThomas@noblenet.org

Teen: Hot Chocolate Bombs!

4:30-5:30 p.m.

Teen Room, Main Library

Teens Grades 6-12! Come warm up and take part in making your own hot chocolate bombs! There will be a variety of treats & ingredients to choose from. Make your own holiday treat with mygs for you to choose from! Registration is required
