The Salem and Lynn Police Departments worked together to arrest Derrick Poe and Chastity Black. (Salem Police Department)

Lynn, Salem Police wrap up investigation

December 22, 2025 by For The Weekly News

On Thursday, Dec. 18, members of Salem Police Department’s Criminal Investigation  Division, working in partnership with members of the Lynn Police Department CID, arrested Derrick Poe, of 46 Mall St., apartment 4, in Lynn, on three counts of distributing a Class B substance (crack cocaine) subsequent offense, in Salem, following a lengthy investigation.

Based upon the investigation, probable cause was developed to obtain a search warrant for Poe’s apartment in Lynn. Salem and Lynn detectives executed the warrant and discovered a quantity of crack cocaine along with equipment to facilitate illegal narcotic sales. Also located during the search were two “ghost guns,” an extended magazine, and one stolen handgun. Based upon the results of the search warrant, Chastity Black, also of 46 Mall St., apartment 4, in Lynn, was placed under arrest as well. Poe and Black will face charges in Lynn District Court.

This case demonstrates the continued partnership and collaboration that the Salem Police Department has with its neighboring agencies to combat street crime and reduce the impact of illegal narcotics and violence in their cities.

Lynn Police Chief Christopher Reddy stated, “The collaborative efforts of detectives from the Lynn Police Department and the Salem Police Department are essential to our shared mission of reducing the harm caused by illegal drugs and firearms in our communities. This case highlights the strong partnerships we maintain with our local, state, and federal counterparts and the positive outcomes that result from that cooperation. I am grateful for the courage and dedication of the detectives involved in this investigation and for their unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our communities.”
