4th Grade Book Buddies

4th Grade Book Buddies will meet at the South Branch Library on the third Thursday of every month! Kids will read a different chapter book or graphic novel each month and meet to do activities and discuss the book together. This program is open to all students in the 4th grade. Space is limited and registration is required. Registering your child for the first meeting will automatically register them for all meetings throughout the end of the school year. **4th graders must bring their library card with them so they can check out the book each month. Please make sure you register your child for a library card so they can participate. You can register for a library card by visiting any of the three Library locations with your child and providing a photo ID and proof of residence. Earn community service hours by participating in Teen Advisory and Community Organization, or as we like to call it, TACO!
Each Thursday, teens can come to the teen room at the West Branch Library and help better the Peabody Institute Library. Teen volunteers will will be given tasks that help the library in some way. As compensation, teens receive one hour of community service hours, and free food the first Thursday of the month.

Intro to Medicare

The South Branch Library will be hosting a Medicare information session presented by the SHINE Program on Thursday, November 20th from 6:30-8:00PM. A certified SHINE counselor will provide information and answer questions about Medicare open enrollment, which takes place from October 15th to December 7th. This program is for anyone who is already on Medicare or will be enrolling for the first time. Learn first steps, compare your current plan to next year’s options to find a way to lower costs, or find a plan that better suits your needs.

Join the CFCE for Music and Movement at 10:00am in the Tech Lab! Hear and sing songs and dance to the beat!
Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness, including intellectual, social-emotional behavior, language in overall literacy, and helps the body and the mind work together. It also helps with fine motor skills. Children that are exposed to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and the meaning of words.

Adult Yoga with Kirsty Yetter

Adult beginner-friendly yoga for all levels is back at the Peabody Library! Join instructor Kirsty for a low-key drop-in yoga class once a week that is appropriate for all levels, whether you’re a seasoned yoga practitioner or never done yoga before. Kirsty will lead you through exercises that will help you connect your mind with your body and feel refreshed for the rest of the day.
Please register for each class so we have a head count. Yoga mats and bolsters are provided, but feel free to bring your own.

Adult Yoga with Jacqui Orphanos

Join yoga instructor Jacqui Orphanos for a relaxing all-levels yoga class. This gentle flow class will focus on breathwork, gentle stretching, functional movement and balance. Participants will be encouraged to move at their own pace & modifications will be offered. Class will close with a relaxing savasana with sound bowls, Reiki assists & optional essential oils. Beginners are welcome!
Mats and Yoga Straps will be provided. Participants should wear comfortable, easy to move in clothing & bring a water bottle.

Citizenship Study Group

This study group will cover the information you need to pass the Civics test, such as American history, how our government works, and the important symbols of our nation. We will also talk about what you’ve learned in class using English to help you pass the oral and written citizenship exams.
The first hour of each class will be covering new material, and the last 30 minutes will be time for answering your questions. All of the study materials will be provided to you.

InkWell Studio Art Class

Creativity Lab, Main Library
InkWell is a free youth arts program exploring a variety of 2d and 3d media. Art classes will run weekly from 3:30 to 5:30. No experience necessary! All materials provided! Bringing in sketchbooks encouraged!
Although groups are free, we do ask for a commitment to the program. This means weekly attendance (we do understand if you have to miss a group every once in a while, though) and getting to the program on time. Last class will be December 17th, in which each class will be celebrated with an end of the year art show, inviting the families to see all the artwork they’ve been doing.
All classes will be taught by local artist educator Bruce Orr. Bruce is an Art Teacher, Art Therapist, muralist, illustrator, puppeteer, builder from recycled materials and all around arts advocate. He created the “Garden City” installation in the downtown Beverly Family Dollar, painted many local murals, including the Carlton School, and was Senior Art Therapist at Raw Art Works for 13 years before founding InkWell. With over 25 years experience, Bruce is a strong believer in the arts as a catalyst for growth, healing and change.

Held once a month on the last Monday of the month, Craft & Chat is an opportunity to hold creative space while getting to know one another and enjoying some light tunes. Some months may include a guided craft or lesson, such as crochet, embroidery, or drawing, while others will be a chance to either bring your own or choose some supplies from our stash and see what you can create!
For November 2025, let’s continue to learn how to crochet! We’ll be starting our granny squares or practicing our stitches. You may also bring your own craft to work on, or grab something from our stash.v

Learn to use Ancestry.com

Learn how to use the Ancestry online database to explore your family’s history. A librarian will help you search genealogical records, including census records, birth, death, and marriage records. Bring in family names and any locations or dates that you know to start your search. You can continue your Ancestry research at home for free using your library card! Sessions are by appointment only and registration is required.
