Race after race across Massachusetts this past Saturday, local cross country programs were well-represented with strong individual and team finishes.
The boys and girls teams from Peabody finished 12th in Division 1-B. Mohamed Lhassouani led the boys with an 18th-place finish of 16:30.90, while the girls were led by Ella Braz (19th – 20:14) and Lauren Foley (20th – 20:16). Also running well was freshman Lily Murphy, who clocked in at 64th with a time of 21:41.
In the Division 2-C races, Bishop Fenwick was well-represented by Adelaide Sweatman (6th – 20:42.93), Marianna Kay (11th – 21:09.28), and Deven Dion (58th – 19:39.09). For their second-place finish, the Lady Crusaders qualified for next Saturday’s Meet of Champions at Willard Field in Devens. They look to improve on their 15th-place finish from 2024.

Bishop Fenwick senior captain Dylan Patturelli (124 yards rushing, 2 TDs) led by example as the Crusaders ran away from Medway at Donaldson Stadium in Peabody. Fenwick will travel and face No. 2 Abington in the next round of the Division 6 tournament.

The top-ranked Eagles defended Glatz Field in their Division 1 opener. The Prep will host No. 8 Leominster next Friday at 6 p.m.

Saturday morning came with Division 1 soccer at Glatz Field in Danvers. The Round of 16 showdown ended with top-ranked St. John’s Prep defeating No. 17 Lowell 1-0. Garrison Murphy netted the game-winning goal in the 58th minute. Matt Droggitis recorded a four-save shutout for the Eagles (17-1-2), who handed Lowell (16-1-3) its first loss. The Prep advanced to Wednesday’s Round of 8, where coach Dave Crowell and company hosted No. 9 Cambridge Rindge & Latin (12-3-3) at 6 p.m. Results were too late to print.

Murphy was a man on a mission for top-ranked St. John’s Prep, scoring a pair of first-half goals in a Division 1 Round of 32 showdown. James Minor netted an insurance goal in the second half and Ryan King dished out two assists.
