With a 32-15 loss to the Falcons, Peabody’s football team (0-7) remained winless after Friday night’s game in Danvers (5-2). The game was scoreless through the first half, but both offenses found some success from there. Joaquim Chavez and Mark Mendonca recorded touchdowns for the Tanners, while Zach Fultz paced the Falcons.

After last week’s heartbreaking defeat against Bishop Feehan, the Crusaders (3-4) bounced back with a monstrous win at Donaldson Stadium. The game was knotted, 14-14, at halftime before Fenwick pulled away with 44 second-half points. Dylan Patturelli rushed 13 times for 207 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught a 35-yard receiving touchdown. Sophomore quarterback Andrew Kiricopoles was 8-for-20 with 121 yards passing and two touchdowns. Tyler Connolly also scored a pair of touchdowns.

Malden Catholic jumped out to a 7-0 lead against St. John’s Prep, but the visiting Eagles (7-0) found their stride from there. Christopher Vargas threw three touchdowns, while Maxwell Parent rushed for another.

Bishop Fenwick’s boys soccer team celebrated Senior Night with a 1-0 win over Swampscott Monday. After a scoreless first half, Edwin Flores found the back of the net off a Jackson Armata assist. Fenwick’s defense held strong the rest of the way as freshman goalie Mason Oreste recorded another shutout.

In “a hard-fought battle between both teams,” Peabody settled for a home-field tie Saturday. Jason Decost recorded the equalizer in the second half, while Tanners Arthur Rocha, Thad Broughton, Marshal Simpson, and Jayden Lopez played strong games, according to coach Stan McKeen.

In set scores of 25-16, 26-24, 26-28, and 27-25, Fenwick put on a show in Danvers behind 31 assists from Emme Lubas. Helping the Crusaders’ cause were Kylie Murphy (10 kills, 4 aces, 6 blocks), Elizabeth Dumas (20 digs), Anna Diranian (5 kills, 16 digs), Charlotte Spooner (16 kills, 5 aces, 20 digs), and Caitlin Boyle (7 blocks).
CROSS COUNTRY
In the Catholic Central League championships, the Bishop Fenwick girls took second place with 51 points. Adelaide Sweatman (3rd), Marianna Kay (5th) and Olivia Rowe (12th) set season-best times and were named to the CCL All-Star team. Julia Davis (15th) and Caroline Blatchford (23rd) also earned points. On the boys’ side, Fenwick placed fourth with 117 points. Captain Sam Appleyard finished seventh to lead the Crusaders, while Deven Dion placed 21st — the second freshman to cross the line — and John Reilly finished 24th.
St. John’s Prep raced in the Catholic Conference championship held at the Wrentham Developmental Center. The Prep won the varsity 5K race with 29 points, followed by BC High (37), Catholic Memorial (66), Xaverian Brothers (107), Saint John’s Shrewsbury (126), and Malden Catholic (169). Top finishers for the Eagles were Jack McIntosh (15:27), Liam Mahoney (15:47), Henry McDonnell (15:48), Leo Seltenrich (15:49), Liam Callahan (16:05), Sam Valentine (16:24), and Hunter Opal (16:28).
