Peabody fails to upset, while Bishop Fenwick falls in nail-biter

October 21, 2025 by Joey Barrett

Unfortunately for the City of Peabody, both varsity football teams came up short Friday night.

Records were out the window between the Marblehead Magicians and Tanners. Peabody (0-6) gave the Magicians (6-0) a good fight at Coley Lee Field, but Marblehead turned it up late en route to a 35-14 victory.

Marblehead’s Finn Gallup collected three total touchdowns, Brayden Callahen caught two for scores, and receiver Madden Lyons made a big difference in the passing game.

As for Peabody – which had the game tied, 14-14, in the second half – Cory Dooley and Mark Mendonca scored touchdowns. Quarterback Luke Maglione completed 12 passes for 77 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while receiver Jack Smith hauled in four balls for 34 yards.

Host Bishop Fenwick held a 6-0 lead against Bishop Feehan after one quarter and trailed by just one point (7-6) at halftime, but couldn’t slow down the Shamrocks’ offense in the second half. Feehan escaped with a 35-30 triumph after scoring 21 fourth-quarter points.

The Crusaders drove downfield and had a chance late, but Feehan’s Kaden Baltazar hauled in a big-time interception to seal the win. Fenwick dipped to 2-4 after the prior week’s 49-point win against Cardinal Spellman.

Fenwick’s Andrew Kiricopoles – just a sophomore – was 22-for-39 with 303 yards passing and four touchdowns. Dylan Patturelli recorded six receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed 14 times for 65 yards and another score. Tyler Connolly hauled in a 68-yard touchdown pass from Kiricopoles, who also tossed a 25-yard touchdown to Jamie Dube.

Peabody visits Danvers Friday at 6:30 p.m. Fenwick hosts Cathedral the same night at 7 p.m.
