Bishop Fenwick’s football team (1-2) fought hard in Gloucester after trailing, 34-14, after three quarters Friday night. The Crusaders nearly pulled off a miraculous comeback and went for a two-point conversion attempt toward the end of the game, but the Fishermen held on to win, 34-33.
Leading the Crusaders were Dylan Patturelli (108 yards rushing), Tyler Connolly (40 yards rushing), Andrew Kiricopoles (182 yards passing, 3 TDs), and Jamie Dube (7 catches).
Gloucester (4-0) has now defeated St. Mary’s and Fenwick across back-to-back Fridays.

This one was never in doubt. The St. John’s Prep Eagles (4-0) remained perfect, invading Cimini Field with a 53-20 win against La Salle Academy Saturday afternoon. The Prep’s ground game was lethal, with Jordan Toribio and Maxwell Parent securing big offensive days. Through the air, quarterback Chris Vargas tossed a pair of touchdowns to go with nearly 200 yards, with Riley Selvais being his favorite receiver.

CROSS COUNTRY
The Bishop Fenwick girls suffered their first loss of the season, 23-38, to “a very deep and talented Bishop Feehan squad,” according to Fenwick coach Fred Doyle. Adelaide Sweatman and Marianna Kay secured second and third place, respectively. On the boys’ side, they fell to Feehan in a 20-37 final. Sam Appleyard (3rd), John Reilly (6th), Deven Dion (7th), and Doron Appleyard (9th) led the Crusaders.
St. John’s Prep defeated Malden Catholic, 19-44, at Pine Banks Park (5K) in Malden. Top finishers for The Prep were Dimitri Profis (1st – 18:24), Colton Friedlander (3rd), Lukas Cleary (4th), and Dylan Power (5th).
