Cultural Council seeks funding proposals

September 16, 2025 by Amanda Lurey

The Peabody Cultural Council (PCC) is accepting applications for the 2026 Local Cultural Council funding made available from the Mass Cultural Council (MCC).

Organizations, schools, and individuals are invited to apply for grants that support cultural activities in the community. These grants can support a variety of cultural and artistic projects and activities in Peabody, including exhibits, classes, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies, school performances, workshops, and lectures.

This year’s allocation of funds from MCC for Peabody Projects is $32,600. The deadline for submitting applications is Oct. 16.

The PCC is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils which serve all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences, and humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the MCC, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.

MCC is using an online application system called SmartSimple. Applicants will need to log in, set up an account, and submit their applications at: massculturalcouncil.smartsimple.com/s_Login.jsp. Applicants are encouraged to refer to the MCC website – massculturalcouncil.org – to learn more.

Previously funded PCC projects include: the Peabody Summer Concerts on the Commons, The Peabody International Festival, school field trips to the Peabody Essex Museum and more.
