The Peabody Council on Aging sponsored a gala luncheon at the Peter A. Torigian Senior Center last Wednesday, Aug. 20 entitled “Return of the King.”
A wonderful performance was presented by Mike Slater who impersonated The King Elvis Presley. Slater gave a fantastic performance of almost all of Elvis’ million-dollar records.
The event was free to everyone and was sponsored by the Friends of the Peabody Council on Aging, a totally volunteer group whose president is Michael F. Zellen.
We would like to exceedingly thank Mike and all the Friends of the PCOA for a splendid time and free luncheon and a stellar performance by Mike Slater. The Jubilee Hall was appointed magnificently with lovely tablecloths and napkins provided by the Center’s volunteers, both men and women who both served a delicious meal and cleaned up afterwards.
The hors d’oeuvres were hot buttered popcorn and the meal consisted of potato salad, coleslaw and a large barbecued cheese burger with bacon. It was hard to get it all down. Last but not least, dessert was a large butterscotch chocolate sundae. Simply delicious.
We all would like to thank so very much Mike Zellen and all members of The Friends of the Peabody Council on Aging, all the volunteers and staff of the Peter A. Torigian Center, Carolyn Winn, Director, Laurie Nadeau Activities Director and Mary Kat DeLomba Volunteer Coordinator for making such a beautiful event available to the elder citizens of our communities. Folks came from everywhere.
Thank You,
Philip Celeste.
