Cradles to Crayons has a Giving Bus at the Northshore Mall until Sept. 1. Mall shoppers can grab a tag and shop for a child in need. (Amanda Lurey)

Cradles to Crayons and Northshore Mall team up to support students in need

August 19, 2025 by Amanda Lurey

The Northshore Mall has partnered with Cradles to Crayons once again for a back to school clothing drive.

Cradles to Crayons’ mission is to “provide children from birth through age 12 with the everyday essentials they need to thrive – at home, at school, and at play,” according to their website.

During the month of August, Cradles to Crayons teams up with some Simon malls to put on its Giving Bus program. The goal of the program is to help children head back to school feeling confident and ready to learn, as Cradles to Crayons noted that not having adequate clothing can affect a student’s attendance and overall academic performance.

There is a big, yellow school bus on display inside the Northshore Mall. The Giving Bus can be found across from the Tilly’s. To its left are tags hanging which each represent a child facing clothing insecurity.

The tag lists details like the child’s gender, age, size, favorite color and clothing requests. The information listed on the tags is an example of a child that Cradles to Crayons will serve.

Mall shoppers can grab one, or many, of those tags and go shopping for that child. Once done shopping, donations can be left with their tags next to the bus display.

The Giving Bus will be inside the Northshore Mall until Sept. 1. For more information about Cradles to Crayons, visit cradlestocrayons.org.
