Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is officially opening its newest scoop shop at the Northshore Mall this Thursday, and they’re coming in sweet.
Doors open at 11 a.m., and for the first two hours, scoops will cost just $1. If that’s not enough incentive to show up early, the first 100 customers will also score a free, limited-edition tote.
The shop is located on the outdoor promenade at 210 Andover St., right next to Legal Seafoods.
Van Leeuwen started out of a yellow truck in New York City back in 2008, serving rich French-style ice cream made with more than twice the egg yolks of your average scoop. Since then, it’s become known for wild flavor collaborations — think Hidden Valley Ranch, Kraft Mac & Cheese, and a coffee affogato collab with NBA star Jimmy Butler. Their latest drop? An espresso flavor made in partnership with pop star Sabrina Carpenter.
Signature scoops include award-winning Vanilla Bean (crowned best vanilla by The New York Times’ Wirecutter), Mango Sticky Rice, Praline Butter Cake, and Pistachio, made with nuts grown on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. You’ll also find fun twists like Marionberry Cheesecake (with berries sourced from Oregon) and the fragrant Earl Grey Tea.
Beyond scoops, the menu also offers sundaes, root beer floats, waffle cones, ice cream sandwiches, and pints to go.
