The Peabody Library’s free Summer Eats lunch program is back! Every Monday Through Thursday from July 8th through August 21st, kids and teens 1-18 can grab a free lunch in the Main Library Courtyard, and join us for different daily event!
- Monday: Movie Mondays – Join is INSIDE IN THE TEEN ROOM to watch a movie while you eat your lunch!
- Tuesdays: Take and Make Tuesdays – grab a craft kit and make it at the Library, or take it home with you!
- Wednesdays: Waterplay Wednesdays – cool off with our water play toys, water balloons, sprinklers, and more.
- Thoughtful Thursdays – participate in mindful activities, such as coloring, meditation, or journaling.

Join us in the Main Reading Room every at the Peabody Institute Library every Wednesday from 1-2:30 for tech help with: basic computer skills, laptops and computers, tablets, e-readers, smart phones, library databases and apps, word processing software, and more. Come prepared by bringing any devices you want help working with, login or account information you may need, and any specific questions you have. Chromebooks are available to practice on if you can not bring in your own device.

Inkwell: High School Printmaking Workshop
1 – 3 p.m.
Creativity Lab, Main Library
T shirt Designing 101: Carve a block for a colorful design and take home a fresh printed artistic T shirt for the summer! Learn reduction print-making from local artist and InkWell founder, Bruce Orr. All participants will also get a silkscreened “Outside the Box” print you get to print yourself. All materials included. Wear clothes for making art.

Summer of Extremes Documentary Series

Please join us for “Strongman,” the second film in our Summer of Extremes Documentary Series.
Follow Stanley “Stanless Steel” Pleskun as he tries to maintain his position in a disappearing profession, as a strongman who performs feats of strength for audiences. His personal life suffers as he tries to recapture the success that was once his.

Teens! Join us for 3 rounds of Capture the Flag in the Courtyard! The Rules – each team gets one flag that they have to protect. Whichever team grabs the other’s flag without being tagged wins!

All Levels Vinyasa Flow Yoga at the Library with Michelle (18+)

Join us for a rejuvenating community yoga class led by Michelle Jacob, a 200-hour certified yoga teacher specializing in Vinyasa, Hatha, and Restorative Yoga. With over 20 years of personal yoga practice and a passion for creating inclusive, accessible spaces, Michelle brings a thoughtful and grounding presence to every class. After being an avid and passionate student practitioner for twenty years, Michelle completed her 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) through The Salty Buddha in the spring of 2024 with a Specialization in Trauma informed Vinyasa and Restorative flow. She is also Level 1 Reiki Certified and holds her CPR/First Aid from the Red Cross. Her teaching experience includes community beach yoga for the Salty Buddha and subs Vinyasa yoga classes at Best Fitness.
Whether you’re brand new to yoga or deepening your practice, this class is designed to welcome all levels with gentle guidance, mindful movement, and opportunities for rest and reflection.
The library has a limited supply of yoga mats and bolsters, but you may want to bring your own, and don’t forget your water!

Summer reading is halfway done! Do you need ideas of books to read to complete your reading goals? Children aged four and up can come and play some Book Bingo with Miss Meeghan!
These bingo cards will feature characters from different books we have in the library, and Miss Meeghan will tell you what each book is about. If a book interests you, feel free to check it out! Participants will have the chance to win fun prizes, like books of their own.

Inkwell: Mural Madness Art Camp (Middle School)

Mural Madness: How would you like to brighten up the library with a colorful new mural? Participants design and paint all week, learning about color, composition and why public art matters. Middle and high school artists will work to finish artwork that celebrates Peabody and the spirit of the library. When we’re done we will gather for a dedication ceremony to honor our work. All materials included. Wear clothes for making art.

Adult Yoga with Jacqui Orphanos at the West Branch
2 – 3 p.m.
Community Room, West Branch
Join yoga instructor Jacqui Orphanos for a relaxing all-levels yoga class. This gentle flow class will focus on breathwork, gentle stretching, functional movement and balance. Participants will be encouraged to move at their own pace & modifications will be offered. Class will close with a relaxing savasana with sound bowls, Reiki assists & optional essential oils. Beginners are welcome!
Mats and Yoga Straps will be provided. Participants should wear comfortable, easy to move in clothing & bring a water bottle.
This program is free and open to the public. For ages 18+.

Citizenship Study Group
2 – 3 p.m.
3rd Floor Conference Room, Main Library
This study group will cover the information you need to pass the Civics test, such as American history, how our government works, and the important symbols of our nation. We will also talk about what you’ve learned in class using English to help you pass the oral and written citizenship exams.
The first hour of each class will be covering new material, and the last 30 minutes will be time for answering your questions. All of the study materials will be provided to you.

Adult Craft & Chat – learn to make old school friendship bracelets

Held once a month on the last Monday of the month, Craft & Chat is an opportunity to hold creative space while getting to know one another and enjoying some light tunes. Some months may include a guided craft or lesson, such as crochet, embroidery, or drawing, while others will be a chance to either bring your own or choose some supplies from our stash and see what you can create!
July’s craft will be old school friendship bracelets made with embroidery thread. Learn the basic stitches, pick your colors, and have a blast from the past with this easy to do craft.

Adult Yoga with Kristy Yetter

Adult beginner-friendly yoga for all levels is back at the Peabody Library! Join instructor Kirsty Yetter for a low-key drop-in yoga class twice a month that is appropriate for all levels, whether you’re a seasoned yoga practitioner or never done yoga before. Kirsty will lead you through exercises that will help you connect your mind with your body and feel refreshed for the rest of the day.
Please register for each class so we have a head count. Yoga mats and bolsters are provided, but feel free to bring your own.
More about our new instructor Kirsty:
Kirsty Yetter is a yoga teacher, artist, and mom. Her Master’s is in Dancer/Movement Therapy, which greatly influences all her work because she believes that movement plays a crucial role in overall health. Kirsty has been practicing yoga for 25 years and incorporates it into her everyday life. Trained in India in 2011, she has now expanded her practice to offer yoga for every body, as well as many different modalities such as prenatal yoga, restorative & yin yoga. She absolutely adores what she does and feels so lucky to get to teach others.

Summer Book Buddies

Community Room, West Branch Library
Children in grades 4, 5, and 6 are invited to join us for a summer reading aloud program. We will meet every other week and we’ll be reading The Wild Robot, by Peter Brown*. The book will be read aloud during the program by the Librarian as well as any of the participants who wish to. There will be discussion about what was read before (in case you miss a week, or join late) as well as chapters to be read posted. Snacks and activities will be provided.

Kids ages 8 to 12 are welcome to join Art Club at the South Branch Library! This program will meet on the last Tuesday of every month from 3:30 to 4:30. Each month, we will work on a new art project. Projects will vary between drawing lessons, drawing games, learning techniques of famous artists, origami, and more!
