The Peabody Library’s free Summer Eats lunch program is back! Every Monday Through Thursday from July 8th through August 21st, kids and teens 1-18 can grab a free lunch in the Main Library Courtyard, and join us for different daily event!
- Monday: Movie Mondays – Join is INSIDE IN THE TEEN ROOM to watch a movie while you eat your lunch!
- Tuesdays: Take and Make Tuesdays – grab a craft kit and make it at the Library, or take it home with you!
- Wednesdays: Waterplay Wednesdays – cool off with our water play toys, water balloons, sprinklers, and more.
- Thoughtful Thursdays – participate in mindful activities, such as coloring, meditation, or journaling.

Drop in Tech Help

Join us in the Main Reading Room every at the Peabody Institute Library every Wednesday from 1-2:30 for tech help with: basic computer skills, laptops and computers, tablets, e-readers, smart phones, library databases and apps, word processing software, and more. Come prepared by bringing any devices you want help working with, login or account information you may need, and any specific questions you have. Chromebooks are available to practice on if you can not bring in your own device.

The Readers Book Group
1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
Community Room, South Branch
The Readers is a volunteer-led book group that meets at the South Branch Library on the third Wednesday of every month. Each month, a different novel will be discussed. Registering for this event will automatically register you for each meeting for the calendar year.
For July, we will be discussing “Such Kindness” by Andre Dubus III. You can place a hold on this book yourself with your NOBLE account, or you can call the South Branch Library at 978-531-3380.

Kids: Summer Seashell Painting
5:15 – 6 p.m.
Children’s Library, Main Library
Welcome the summer season with this sea-riously fun craft! Children aged 5 and up can come paint seashells with Miss Meeghan. Will you paint an animal, an ocean, decorate the seashell with a nice pattern, or do something completely different? The choice is yours!

TACO Thursday
4 – 5 p.m.
Alcove, West Branch Library
Earn community service hours by participating in Teen Advisory and Community Organization, or as we like to call it, TACO!
Each Thursday, teens can come to the teen room at the West Branch Library and help better the Peabody Institute Library. Teen volunteers will will be given tasks that help the library in some way. As compensation, teens receive one hour of community service hours, and free food the first Thursday of the month.

Families are invited to the West Branch Library for the second in a series of STEM events. For this paper airplane challenge, your team will fold some different styles of paper airplane and then see how accurately you can throw them, as well as how far.

LEGO isn’t only a super fun way to spend a Saturday morning, but it’s also a great way for children to gain creative and mechanical skills.
Large DUPLO blocks will also be available for younger children.

Preschool age children will have a blast at Miss Patty’s Storytime! Come listen to some stories, dance, and sing along with us. Children aged 5 and up can create their own felt flower craft with Miss Katia! Decorate your felt flower and its flowerpot with different colors and designs. You’ll be able to take your creation home with you!

Adult Yoga with Jacqui Orphanos
2 – 3 p.m.
Community Room, West Branch Library
Join yoga instructor Jacqui Orphanos for a relaxing all-levels yoga class. This gentle flow class will focus on breathwork, gentle stretching, functional movement and balance. Participants will be encouraged to move at their own pace & modifications will be offered. Class will close with a relaxing savasana with sound bowls, Reiki assists & optional essential oils. Beginners are welcome!
Mats and Yoga Straps will be provided. Participants should wear comfortable, easy to move in clothing & bring a water bottle.

Citizenship Study Group
2 – 3:30 p.m.
3rd Floor Conference Room, Main Library
This study group will cover the information you need to pass the Civics test, such as American history, how our government works, and the important symbols of our nation. We will also talk about what you’ve learned in class using English to help you pass the oral and written citizenship exams.
The first hour of each class will be covering new material, and the last 30 minutes will be time for answering your questions. All of the study materials will be provided to you.

Ready for some morning movement and relaxation? Miss Katia hosts a fun yoga session for children every Tuesday morning. Wear comfy clothes, bring a yoga mat if you have one, and a water bottle to stay hydrated. Like all of our Library programs, this event is free and open to the public. Little Groove

Little Groove provides music programming for young children, 14 months to 4 years of age,. Little Groove’s music program is designed to help toddlers and preschoolers learn and interact with music in a live music setting. Children get to enjoy being a part of the musical experience, using their bodies and voices to sing along to catchy songs that help them build important motor, social, cognitive and language skills. They will have fun using real instruments such as maracas, and tambourines, as well as educational toys such as puppets and scarves.

Adult Yoga with Kristy Yetter

Tech Lab Main Library
Adult beginner-friendly yoga for all levels is back at the Peabody Library! Join instructor Kirsty Yetter for a low-key drop-in yoga class twice a month that is appropriate for all levels, whether you’re a seasoned yoga practitioner or never done yoga before. Kirsty will lead you through exercises that will help you connect your mind with your body and feel refreshed for the rest of the day.
Please register for each class so we have a head count. Yoga mats and bolsters are provided, but feel free to bring your own.

Kirsty Yetter is a yoga teacher, artist, and mom. Her Master’s is in Dancer/Movement Therapy, which greatly influences all her work because she believes that movement plays a crucial role in overall health. Kirsty has been practicing yoga for 25 years and incorporates it into her everyday life. Trained in India in 2011, she has now expanded her practice to offer yoga for every body, as well as many different modalities such as prenatal yoga, restorative & yin yoga. She absolutely adores what she does and feels so lucky to get to teach others.

Inkwell: Middle School Printmaking Workshop

T shirt Designing 101: Carve a block for a colorful design and take home a fresh printed artistic T shirt for the summer! Learn reduction print-making from local artist and InkWell founder, Bruce Orr. All participants will also get a silkscreened “Outside the Box” print you get to print yourself. All materials included. Wear clothes for making art.

We have tools for 3D printing, sewing, sound recording, laser cutting, woodworking, computer programming, vinyl cutting, jewelry making, graphic design, electronics, and more. A librarian will be available to help you learn any unfamiliar tools!
Registration is required for this session, as space and materials are limited. For ages 13+, and participants between the ages of 9 and 12 may attend Open Labs with a caregiver. Upon arrival, participants must check in and sign a liability waiver. Walk ins are NOT Allowed at this time.
