DANVERS — The Peabody Champions, of the North Shore Baseball League, defeated Rowley, 5-0, Sunday at Twi Field in Danvers. The victory upped Peabody’s record to 11-3 as the team sits in second place overall behind the Northeast Tides.
The game was scoreless after two innings, but Peabody (104 runs scored, 65 against this season) plated two runs in the third and another three in the sixth. Despite committing two errors, the Champions held a 7-3 advantage in hits.
The offense was led by Cam Soroko (H, 2 R, 3 BB), Liam McIlroy (H, 2 R, 2 RBI), Shane Keough (H, 3 RBI), Nolan Hills (H), Jon Cahill (2 H), and Marco Zirpolo (H). Soroko and James McCarthy stole bases, while McIlroy’s hit was a two-run homer.
Next up for Peabody was Tuesday’s game against the Kingston Night Owls beginning at 8 p.m. inside of Haverhill Stadium. Results were too late to print.
