Athlete of the Week – Peabody’s Tyler Rappold

July 1, 2025 by Joey Barrett

You know what I’ve been thinking? Just because it’s not your usual position, doesn’t mean you can’t give it a shot.

Despite North dropping last week’s 63rd Harry Agganis All-Star Football Game to South, 21-6, you could say Peabody High’s Tyler Rappold stole the show.

Typically a wide receiver and defensive back, North turned to Rappold to play quarterback.

All he did was win the game’s Most Valuable Player award, along with Swampscott High’s Henry Beuttler.

“It’s an honor to be picked for this game — let alone play a different position and have fun with kids from all over,” Rappold said. “Meeting new friends, too. I’m sure I’ll be talking to some of these guys for a while. It was fun.”

Rappold got his performance started with a 27-yard touchdown pass to Beverly’s Liam Timpone.

“Different kids were showing up to practice — some came, some didn’t,” he said. “I actually started taking quarterback reps yesterday (Tuesday, June 24). I’ve been playing receiver and DB (defensive back) all week.”

In the fourth quarter, Rappold came up with an interception on the defensive end.

“I felt good . . . I got one back,” he said.

As a senior with the Tanners last fall, Rappold recorded 39 receptions, 415 yards receiving, two touchdowns receiving, two interceptions, and a pick six.

Call it a year to remember.

Tyler, good week.
