Northeastern Conference runs on Peabody

DANVERS — Friday night’s Northeastern Conference League Meet was action-packed at Danvers High. Races and records later, Peabody ran away with boys and girls wins.

Peabody won a tightly-contested girls meet with 150.5 points, squeezing by Masconomet (118.5), and Marblehead (104.5). Leading the Tanners was triple winner Alessandra Forgione, who won the discus (132-8), setting a conference record, as well as the javelin (120-02) and shot put (35-01).

Makayla Kokonezis won triple jump (35-09.75), while the 4×400 relay team of Lauren Foley, Ava Champigny, Avery Marcus, and Lilah Trombley clocked first in 4:18.17. Ella Braz won the 2-mile with an eye-catching time of 11:32.76.

On the boys’ side, Peabody was victorious as well with 173 points. Masconomet (133), Beverly (95), and Marblehead (95) followed in second, third, and fourth, respectively. First-place Tanners were Peyton Smith (110m hurdles), Alex Jackson (shot put, discus), and Riley Michaud (triple jump).

Tyler Rappold and Henry Sawyer went back-to-back (3rd and 4th) in the 200m with times of 22.68 and 23.48, respectively. Declan Smith finished second in the 800m (1:57.46) with Mohamed Lhassouani (2:00.55) close behind in third. Omar Mishal (57.06) and Brian Stevens (57.34) placed second and third, respectively, in the 400m hurdles.
