With three games against Revere, Lynn English, and Beverly, respectively, the Peabody baseball team secured wins against the Patriots and Bulldogs, but fell to the Panthers over the weekend.
Talk about a successful Senior Day. The host Tanners were trailing by a run (2-1) against Revere, but plated four runs in the sixth inning thanks to Joey Smith (2-for-2, 3 RBI), Jake Crocker, and Ethan Waybret en route to a 5-3 win. Peabody’s Dylan Annese (6 IP, 4 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 0 ER) earned the win, while Jacob Crocker picked up the save.
Two nights later came a late-night, 3-2 win against English at Fraser Field.
Despite a stellar pitching performance from English’s Guilmer Galva (7 2/3 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 4 K), it wasn’t enough as Peabody tied the game in the sixth inning before escaping in the eighth. Engel Thomas led the Bulldogs’ offense with a hit and an RBI.
As for Peabody – which didn’t commit a single error – Noah Crocker batted 2-for-3, while Jayden Cunningham, Waybret, and Ty Lomasney drove in runs. Max Silvia (6 2/3 IP) got the start for the Tanners, surrendering just three hits and two walks alongside 11 strikeouts.
But after back-to-back wins came Saturday’s 5-0 loss to Beverly as the Tanners were shut out at home. Cunningham and Ty Lomasney recorded the team’s only two hits.
