The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has declared the Northeast Region, which includes Peabody and surrounding communities, to be at a Level 1 Drought or Mild Drought. In accordance with the City of Peabody’s Massachusetts Water Management Act Registrations, effective immediately.
All nonessential outdoor water uses are restricted to Sundays, before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m., except that watering of ornamentals and flower gardens with drip irrigation, hand-held hose or watering cans.
Until the State determines the drought condition has improved, the use of sprinkler systems is banned. The City is required to implement these water use restrictions per Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s Water Management Act.
