Citizens Inn launches matching gift drive

May 13, 2025 by For The Weekly News

At Citizens Inn, we believe everyone deserves a warm meal shared with loved ones, a safe place to sleep, and the chance to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. You make this possible.

Thanks to you, neighbors in crisis — families facing homelessness, seniors struggling to afford groceries, single parents doing their best to make ends meet — have someone standing beside them. You are the support and strength they count on during life’s hardest moments.

And now, your compassion is needed more than ever.

Federal funding cuts are threatening the safety that your most vulnerable neighbors rely on. The USDA has already reduced food program support, cutting $12 million in food purchasing power for our state. And proposed cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) could take $554 million away from Massachusetts families, pushing even more people to food pantries like ours for help.

This means fewer meals for families, fewer groceries for seniors, and fewer opportunities for neighbors to get back on their feet — unless you step in.

Right now, your gift will go twice as far. A generous supporter is matching all donations up to $10,000—doubling your impact for neighbors who need you.

Here’s what you can do:

  • $10 provides fresh produce to a family in crisis
  • $35 covers a week’s worth of groceries for a senior
  • $150 feeds 100 children through the backpack program you support
  • $500 rescues thousands of pounds of food to nourish your neighbors

You keep shelves stocked. You keep services running. You keep hope alive.

Please, make your gift today to bring twice the relief, twice the comfort, and double your impact for those who need it most.
