Underclassmen deliver solid Saturday at Gloucester High

GLOUCESTER — The Northeastern Conference held its Freshman/Sophomore Meet at Gloucester High this past Saturday, with Peabody’s girls track and field team present and accounted for.

The Tanners delivered a strong performance, placing third with 99 points. Madison Holleran was on a mission, setting meet records in the discus (1st, 95-6) and shot put (1st, 33-5).

Following Holleran in shot put were Giselle Mbuga-Kazibwe (2nd), Sarah Flanagan (5th, 25-6.25), and Marianna Pinot-Gomez (6th, 25-4). In discus, Holleran was followed by Ava Gonzalez (4th, 78-4) and Mbuga-Kazibwe (7th, 64-4).

Maya Sutton placed fourth in long jump (15-2), while Jocelyn Ridley finished first in the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.27. Marley Lambert secured fifth in 19.40.

As for the 400m hurdles, the Tanners were guided by Sutton (2nd, 72.07) and Lilah Trombley (4th, 77.15). In the 400m, Brooke Martin placed fifth (67.38) – just in front of Folakemi Ogunbanjo (7th, 69.06).

Lambert (5th) secured a top-five finish in the 2-mile with a time of 15:00.

The 4x100m relay saw Peabody finish fourth in 55.47. The group consisted of Martin, Keira Leone, Fallon Foley, and Gabby Meola.

Trombley, Olivia Del Valle, Fola Ogunbanjo, and Sutton placed second in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:50.8.
