Host Essex Tech shot out to a 3-0 lead, which was a telling first chapter of a dominant book. Aidan Byrne (3 goals), Nathan Ricciuti (2), and Johnny Romans (first varsity goal) led Fenwick’s offense. Cold, sloppy weather didn’t slow down the Swampscott (1-0) and Bishop Fenwick (1-1) girls lacrosse teams Saturday afternoon. The visiting Big Blue picked up a 5-4 win in Peabody.

Swampscott goalie Lilah Caplan made nine saves, while a versatile offense was guided by Chloe Puzzo (goal, assist), Victoria Pierro (goal, assist), Lia Beatrice (goal), Fiona Keaney (goal), Cecelia Tripp (goal), and Avery Laundry (assist).

Fenwick was led by Breanna Genzale (2 goals, assist), Kiley Bloom (2 goals, assist), and Olivia Watson, who delivered a “great defensive game,” according to Fenwick Coach Jill Robinson.
