2023 Peabody High graduate Isabel Bettencourt , a sophomore starting catcher on the Bates College softball team (3-2), started the 2025 season with a bang, posting a .750 batting average (12-for-18) with 12 RBI, two doubles , a triple, two walks, and a grand slam in the Bobcats' first five games. She's also been perfect behind the plate with two assists and zero errors in 41 chances for a 1.000 percent fielding percentage. Bates is back in action Thursday in a doubleheader against St. Lawrence (11:15 a.m.) and Wellesley (2 p.m.) at Legends Field in Clermont, Fla. (Mike Nellis)
