The Peabody Tanners were present and accounted for in Thursday’s MIAA Division 2 track and field championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. Peabody’s boys (42 points) finished second out of 28 teams, just one point behind Algonquin Regional, while the girls (26 points) placed sixth out of 23 teams.
On the boys’ side, Alex Jackson (1st, 61-03.00) and Areno Saint-Victor (2nd, 52-08.75) went back-to-back in the shot put, while Evan Bedard (2nd, 22-06.75) and Juan Rivera (7th, 20-04.75) showed out in the long jump. Declan Smith placed third in the 1,000m (2:32.85), while Mohammed Lhassouani took sixth, three spots behind Smith, in 2:38.94. Brian Stevens impressed in the 600m (11th, 1:26.84).
For the girls, Makayla Kokonezis took second in the high jump (5-0), Alessandra Forgione finished second in the shot put (38-05.75), Lauren Foley took fourth in the 600m (1:40.59) with Avery Marcus (1:43.02) six spots behind in 10th, Kayley Bunn placed ninth in the 55m (9.43), and Ella Braz placed 10th in the 1,000m (3:12.17).
