Earn community service hours by participating in Teen Advisory and Community Organization, or as we like to call it, TACO!
Each Thursday, teens can come to the teen room at the West Branch Library and help better the Peabody Institute Library. Teen volunteers will will be given tasks that help the library in some way. As compensation, teens receive one hour of community service hours, and free food the first Thursday of the month.

Conversation Circles are volunteer-led sessions that provide weekly opportunities for non-native English speakers to practice basic conversational English in an informal setting. Sessions increase vocabulary and knowledge of American culture and customs, improve pronunciation and learn idiomatic expressions. Meetings focus on topics of practical interest such as shopping, ordering food, finding a job or an apartment, hobbies or current events.

Chromebooks are available to practice on if you can not bring in your own device. No registration required.

Want a new mug to hold your drinks this winter? Come join Miss Meeghan in the Children’s Library to decorate your own! Children ages 4 and up are invited to color their own design on a slip of paper, which Miss Meeghan will insert into your very own plastic mug. Preschool age children will have a blast at Miss Patty’s Storytime! Come listen to some stories, dance, and sing along with us. These programs help children gain early literacy and social skills while also preparing them for a school environment. Children will receive a take-home craft at the end of the program.

Adult Yoga with Jacqui Orphanos at the West Branch
2 p.m.—3 p.m.
Community Room
Join yoga instructor Jacqui Orphanos for a relaxing all-levels yoga class. This gentle flow class will focus on breathwork, gentle stretching, functional movement and balance. Participants will be encouraged to move at their own pace & modifications will be offered. Class will close with a relaxing savasana with sound bowls, Reiki assists & optional essential oils. Beginners are welcome!
Mats and Yoga Straps will be provided. Participants should wear comfortable, easy to move in clothing & bring a water bottle.

Craft & Chat: Circular Weaving

Craft & Chat is back! Now once a month on the last Monday of the month, Craft & Chat is an opportunity to hold creative space while getting to know one another and enjoying some light tunes. Some months may include a guided craft or lesson, such as crochet, embroidery, or drawing, while others will be a chance to either bring your own or choose some supplies from our stash and see what you can create!
January’s guided craft will be Circular Weaving – you will be provided with all the supplies and instructions you need to make a circular woven wall hanging. Didn’t finish it? Bring it back next month!

Adult Yoga with Jill Manos

Adult beginner-friendly yoga for all levels is back at the Peabody Library! Join instructor Jill Manos for a low-key drop-in yoga class twice a month that is appropriate for all levels, whether you’re a seasoned yoga practitioner or never done yoga before. Jill will lead you through exercises that will help you connect your mind with your body and feel refreshed for the rest of the day.
Please register for each class so we have a head count. Yoga mats and bolsters are provided, but feel free to bring your own.

Kids ages 8 to 12 are welcome to join Art Club at the South Branch Library! This program will meet on the last Tuesday of every month from 3:30 to 4:30. Each month, we will work on a new art project. Creativity Lab: Open Lab I (Tuesday)

Creativity Lab
Join us in the Creativity Lab for Open Lab! Have a personal project you’re working on, or one you want to start? Stop by the Lower Level any time during this session to use any of the tools available at the Creativity Lab! We have tools for 3D printing, sewing, sound recording, laser cutting, woodworking, computer programming, vinyl cutting, jewelry making, graphic design, electronics, and more. A librarian will be available to help you learn any unfamiliar tools!
Registration is required for this session, as space and materials are limited. For ages 13+, and participants between the ages of 9 and 12 may attend Open Labs with a caregiver. Upon arrival, participants must check in and sign a liability waiver. Walk ins are NOT Allowed at this time.
