Bishop Fenwick’s swimming and diving team came up short against Cardinal Spellman, 89-69, Monday afternoon. Despite not winning the meet, the Crusaders had two swimmers record two first-place finishes. Senior captain Hannah Ryan qualified for sectionals with a 2:10.43 200-meter freestyle to claim first place. Ryan took home first in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:17.94. Teammate and junior captain Caroline Blatchford took home first in the 200 IM (2:26.50). The time was good enough to qualify Blatchford for sectionals and states. Blatchford also placed first in the 100-meter butterfly with a 1:07.34.

The Prep had its hands full, falling to Morris Catholic on home hardwood. Leading the Eagles were Quinn Stockman (13 points), Marcus Magloire (9), and Dawagner De Los Santos (9). The three combined for seven 3-pointers.

He was followed by Thad Broughton (11 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists), Marc Mendonca (8 points), Jimmy Festa (6 points, 7 rebounds), Justin Pais (8 assists, 5 rebounds), and Stephen Brown (6 points).

Playing its third game in four days, Peabody came up short despite 14 points from Ally Bettencourt and 10 from Avery Bettencourt. Winthrop was led by Angela Tshowa (13 points), Poli Tsiotos (10), Bailey Ferguson (7), and Zoey Bogusz (7), who buried a clutch 3-pointer with 30 seconds remaining.

Despite a double-digit defeat, Peabody coach Stan McKeen said Wednesday’s matchup was “a very hard-fought contest against an outstanding opponent.” Aliana Ryan scored 13 points for the Tanners.
“Couldn’t finish the job, but played well,” McKeen said.
Also contributing were Avery Bettencourt (10 points), Sophia Coburn (8), Ally Bettencourt, and Maia Davis. The Tanners take on Winthrop on Thursday.

St. John’s Prep doubled up Saint John’s on the New England Sports Center ice in Marlboro. Brandon Ward scored the first goal of the game before finding his second on the power play. Other goal-scorers were Mason Luciano and Ryan Delucia into an empty net.
