The Lady Crusaders (3-1) came up short in the championship game of the Sue Rivard Holiday Tournament Saturday. While they lived by free throws in the opening round against Silver Lake Friday, they died by them Saturday, making only five of 15. Fenwick also struggled from beyond the arc, missing 14 of 15 on the Oliver Ames hardwood.
“Too many missed free throws, missed rebounds, and loose balls was the story for us,” said Fenwick coach Adam DeBaggis.
Kyleigh Pidgeon scored a team-high nine points to go with three boards. Caitlyn Boyle hauled in nine rebounds and scored seven points, while Celia Neilson had a solid all-around game with six points, eight assists, six rebounds, and five steals. Abby Jenkins (2 steals) and Sienna Mancinelli (2 rebounds) scored five points apiece, while Bre Genzale and Caroline Perry each recorded two points. Reese Spurchise chipped in five boards and two assists for the Lady Crusaders, who host Archbishop Williams at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
