The Peabody Historical Society and Museum is sponsoring a lecture about the history of storytelling, raising social awareness, and protest in textiles and quilts. The program will feature quilt historian Pam Weeks and is entitled “Soft Protest.” According to the society, stories have been quilted into bed coverings since as early as 1400, while protest quilts date back to 1830.
The lecture will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m. at Smith Barn, 38 Felton St., Peabody.
The annual Crafts Fair and Apple Bake Sale will take place Thursday, Nov. 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Smith Barn. Admission is $5 per person, while children are free. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
The annual Holiday Open House will be held at the Nathaniel Felton Junior House and Firehouse Museum on Sunday, Dec. 8, from 1 to 4 p.m.
