The Peabody volleyball team (6-9) was up, 2-0, before the Marblehead Magicians tied it up and forced a fifth set. Fortunately for Peabody, it found its groove again and defeated Marblehead in the fifth. Peabody coach Sherill Erickson praised a few of her players, adding Emma Lynch, Carly Chouinard, Ava Ruffing, Addy Merrill and Lizzy Bettencourt played well.

Call it a barrage, as Peabody scored nine times to conquer the Vikings on enemy soil. Do-it-all Connie Patturelli led the way with four goals, while Gabby Gosselin, Avery Bettencourt, Victoria Vaz, Avery Marcus, and Avery Bettencourt also found the back of the net.

The Eagles also received strong performances from junior midfielder Finn McCabe, junior defender James Minor, and senior defender Matt Theodore.

Masconomet secured another shutout win with a 4-0 victory over Peabody on Senior Day. Mia Juliano scored a goal and provided an assist, while Mia Marques also scored and dished out two assists. Peabody’s Sophia Kassis made 18 saves between the pipes.

No matter who you are or what league you’re in, 36 points in one half usually does the trick. Despite playing in enemy territory, such was the case for St. John’s Prep against St. John’s Shrewsbury on Saturday. Freshman gunslinger Chris Vargas continued his stellar season with three more touchdown passes, while Merrick Barlow caught two of them. Jordan Toribio rushed to the promised land for the Eagles, who upped their record to 5-0.

The Eagles wrapped up the regular season with a 13-match winning streak after dropping their season-opener. They will compete in the Division 1 North Sectional Tournament at Far Corner Golf Course on Wednesday. Zach Enners (36), Tripp Hollister (37), and Jack Carew (38) led The Prep on Thursday.
