YMCA, Total Temp Control launch hurricane relief drive

October 8, 2024 by For The Weekly News

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, which left a trail of destruction across the southeastern United States, the YMCA of Metro North, in partnership with Total Temp Control, is holding an emergency relief drive to provide critical supplies to storm victims. The drive will collect donations at the Melrose and Peabody YMCA branches through Oct. 11, with all items being transported to North Carolina to assist affected communities.

Items urgently needed include bottled water, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products, infant supplies (such as diapers, formula, and wipes), pet supplies, and nonperishable food.

“We are proud to join Total Temp Control in their efforts to make a difference for those in desperate need. This relief drive is a tangible way for our community to come together and extend a helping hand to our neighbors in North Carolina,” said Kathleen Walsh, president and CEO of the YMCA of Metro North. “Many people are looking for a way to help after the hurricanes, and Total Temp Control is stepping up to find solutions.”

Total Temp Control will deliver the collected supplies directly to affected areas in North Carolina and will coordinate transportation. The YMCA and Total Temp Control are calling on residents of Melrose, Peabody, and surrounding communities to contribute.

Donation Drop-Off Locations:

  • Melrose YMCA – 497 Main St., Melrose, MA 02176
  • Peabody YMCA – 259 Lynnfield St., Peabody, MA 01960

Donations will be accepted during regular business hours through Oct. 11.
