George Peabody Legacy Award recipients announced

August 27, 2024 by For The Weekly News

The George Peabody Legacy Award is presented by the Peabody Education Foundation to recognize and honor the educators and philanthropists from within the community who work to provide a lifetime of contributions to our educational system. It is an honor to recognize educators who have gone above and beyond to make a lasting difference in the lives of their students. In the classroom they are both learners and facilitators of learning. They attend to the social and emotional needs of their students, making a lasting, positive impact by providing a progressive learning atmosphere meeting the needs of every individual child. In these days of global pandemic, the traditional ways of educating students have been severely disrupted. Teachers and community members are rising to the challenge by providing an education that goes beyond just academics.

The Peabody Education Foundation is pleased to announce the names of this year’s George Peabody Legacy Award Recipients:

The Honorable Peter Torigian – (Posthumously)

Jill Houlden – (Teaching)

John (Buddy) Manning – (Retired)

Patricia Morneau – (Retired)

Mary Winn McCarthy – (Retired)

Dr. Charles Milton Burnett – (Retired)

Each of these individuals will be recognized and honored for their lifetime of contributions to our educational system.

An awards ceremony will be held at the Higgins Middle School on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, at 6 p.m. To purchase tickets please visit https:peabodyedfoundation.org. For additional information about the George Peabody Legacy Awards, please contact David Gravel at 978-538-9055 Ext. 114,
