On June 3, President of the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce Deanne Healey, along with members of the Chamber Scholarship Committee, announced Julia Smith and Nayatie Gabriel are the recipients of this year’s Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship.
The Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce takes pride in awarding area high-school seniors with scholarships to help fund education at a post-secondary institution. This year, two scholarships of $3,500 each will be awarded to students for demonstrating a desire to pursue a business degree or business related major, or a desire to major in any area of science, technology, engineering, arts, or mathematics, including any area related to the medical field.
Smith will be awarded the scholarship in business to pursue a degree in marketing.
“Excelling in math classes, I enjoy combining my mathematical skills with the creativity that comes along with marketing,” she said.
Gabriel will be awarded the STEAM scholarship to become a nurse practitioner in gynecology.
“The best care comes from people who truly value their patients’ needs. This is the type of medical provider I aspire to be,” she said.
Both students demonstrate their resolve to better serve the lives of future generations in their daily work. They will grow into tomorrow’s business leaders and help to spread the mission of the chamber by “empowering businesses to succeed while enriching the community.”
Scholarships are made possible through the support of Peabody Area Chamber member businesses that play or sponsor the annual Torigian Golf Classic.
