Forty-five local high-school students preparing to turn their tassels were recently named Student Scholars at Brooksby Village, an Erickson Senior Living community.
These select student-workers, who held positions as servers, hosts, and hostesses across the community’s multiple on-campus restaurants, displayed an unwavering commitment to service and excellence.
To recognize their dedication and propel their promising futures, community residents generously donated $224,000 to the Student Scholarship Fund.
To qualify for a four-year scholarship, a student must work 1,000 hours during a two-year period, maintain good academic and professional standing, and plan to attend a college, university, or trade school on a full-time basis (at least 12 credit hours per semester).
“Our student workers acknowledge how impactful these scholarships are,” Philanthropy Manager Hope Moore said. “Thank you to all the residents who donated! These awards set our student workers up for success.”
In addition to the $12,000 Brooksby Scholarship award, nine privately funded scholarships were awarded to 10 students. These additional scholarships were resident-sponsored and honored loved ones who died, or were intended to cover the cost of books and fees. Over $21,000 in private scholarships were awarded.
“The Student Scholar awards are one way that Brooksby Village supports mission-driven team members who are eager to further their education,” said Moore. “We strive to make Brooksby Village a great place to live and work!”
