BOSTON- State Representative Thomas P. Walsh has announced the start of his third annual can-tab collection to support the local chapter of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHCNE). The non-profit organization offers accommodation and hospitality to families from around the world while their child undergoes life-saving treatment at nearby Boston and Rhode Island hospitals.
“Every day, children and their families arrive from across the United States and from around the world to receive critical medical treatment at Boston hospitals. I am grateful for the opportunity to partner with Lauren and her team at Ronald McDonald House Charities to support their mission of providing a welcoming, peaceful atmosphere, home-cooked meals, and activities to these families during a very difficult and stressful time.”, said Rep. Walsh. “This summer, I hope you will join me in saving the can-tab from a can of soda, seltzer, or beer. Together, we can make a difference for a family in need.”
“I am grateful to Rep. Walsh for doing another summer can-tab drive to benefit the children and families served at our two Ronald McDonald Houses here in New England”, said RMHCNE CEO Lauren Hoops-Schmieg. “Donations through the can-tab campaign help us provide all the comforts of home to families staying with us who are experiencing the most challenging medical crises. We could also really use some help in receiving items from our Amazon and Target Wish Lists – these items are standard household things like laundry detergent and bed linens that help us provide all the necessities for the families staying with us. Interested parties can view our Wish lists at: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/U0WEPLFX5TXI?ref_=wl_fv_le and https://www.target.com/gift-registry/gift-giver?registryId=4b6de4b0-009e-11ee-ad90-99789b008c3a&type=CHARITY”
Those interested in participating in the can-tab drive are encouraged to contact Rep. Walsh with questions or for pick-up arrangements by phone at 978-531-8489 or by email at tpw6@comcast.net. After Labor Day, the collected can-tabs will be delivered to the RMHCNE Boston location where the aluminum can-tabs will be recycled, with proceeds benefiting the charity’s programming.
