Peabody musician will be at an upcoming Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras concert

The Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras presents An Afternoon of Spring Concerts on Sunday, May 19, at the Dolan Performing Arts Center, 130 High Street, in Ipswich. The 2 p.m. concert features NMYO’s Prelude String Ensemble, Overture String Ensemble, and Intermezzo Orchestra. The 4 p.m. concert features NMYO’s advanced ensembles: Wind Ensemble, Select Flute Choir, and Symphony Orchestra. The concerts will include a mix of classical and contemporary music including works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Grainger, Mackey, Dvořák, Nishimura, and more. The concerts are free and no tickets or reservations are required.

Drew Little of Peabody will be performing at the concert.

The concerts will also be live-streamed on NMYO’s YouTube channel @NMYOrch! If you prefer to watch from the comfort of your home, visit nmyo.org and click the link on the Home Page to see the concert in real time.

NMYO concerts are a great way to experience orchestral music in a comfortable setting while supporting the musical training of the area’s finest young musicians. NMYO’s Gold Benefactor and Conductors Circle sponsors are the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Cape Ann Savings Bank, Coburn Charitable Society, Cummings Properties, Demoulas Foundation, Institution for Savings, and Johnson String Instrument-Carriage House Violins. The Ipswich Cultural Council, as well as the councils of Hamilton-Wenham, Topsfield, and Boxford also support this concert and NMYO.

NMYO is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides youth musicians with exceptional ensemble training and opportunities for cognitive, social, and personal growth through musical performance and community service. Led by Music Director Gerald J. Dolan Jr., with an accomplished team of music professionals, NMYO’s 155 musicians come from 40-plus towns throughout northeast Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire and participate in one or more of six ensembles offered. The regular rehearsal and concert schedule is supplemented with master classes, enrichment days, chamber music, and community service outreach concerts to underserved populations. Rehearsals are held weekly just off I-95 and Route 1 in Topsfield/Boxford. You too can join NMYO! Placement auditions for the 2024-2025 Season are scheduled for Saturday, June 8.
